Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Evolutionary Biology

Overview

MEME (the Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Evolutionary Biology) is a new two-year research oriented master programme for talented and motivated students who are interested in understanding evolution in all its facets. MEME is a joint project between four European universities (University of Groningen, Netherlands; Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, Germany; Uppsala University, Sweden; University of Montpellier II, France) and Harvard University (USA). Students will start the programme at one of these universities, and will spend at least one semester at a partner university. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded double or (in some cases) triple degrees from two or three partner universities.

The application deadline for the MEME programme is April 15th, 2010 for applications from within Europe

Admission Criteria

Because of EU-regulations, we distinguish between two categories of applicants; category A applicants and category B applicants. These categories are defined as follows:

Category B applicants

Applicants that have carried their major activities (=work or study) in any of the countries mentioned above for more than 12 months over the last 5 years.
Category A applicantsAll other applicants.

There are two different deadlines for application between these categories (see below) and there are also different amounts and kinds of scholarships available for students from the two different categories (see Tuition Fees and Scholarships).

The following general selection criteria will be applied to determine eligibility of a candidate for the MEME programme, as well as eligibility for scholarships:
