Offer of Italian Government Scholarship 2010-2011 for Citizen of India

Overview

Applications in duplicate addressed to the Section Officer, ES.5 Section, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, A-2/W-4, Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110 001 on the prescribed format (Annexure-I) are invited from Indian Nationals who hold or are expected to hold a graduation or equivalent degree and Master’s or equivalent degree by 31.03.2010 as per requirement for the following scholarships offered by the Government of Italy for the academic year, 2010-2011 :-

CATEGORY ‘A’

9 Scholarships with duration 12 months each to pursue Specialised Post-Graduate Courses in the subjects: Economics and Management, Information & Communication Technology, Cultural Heritage & Restoration, Environment, Fashion Technology and Biotechnology.

Eligibility :-

1. Bachelor or equivalent degree with 60% marks in the subject opted, from a recognised University and/or

2. Master or equivalent degree 60% marks with specialisation in the subject opted, from a recognised University.

3. Age not to exceed 35 years.

Preference shall be given to candidates who have received offer/invitation or secured admission in any recognized University or Institution in Italy. A document proving the offer/invitation/selection/admission should be produced before the Selection Committee at the time of interview.

Some courses in the above subject are taught in English and Knowledge of Italian Language is not considered a condition for admission. However, the decision of the Universities/Institutions where such courses are held shall be final in this regard.

The stipend shall be Euro 700 per month. The reduction in course fee for scholarship holders shall be at the discretion of the University. The Scholarship holders are therefore advised to verify with the University authorities at the time of enrollment. No international/national passage is offered by the Government of Italy for any of these scholarships.


CATEGORY ‘B’

2 Scholarships with duration of 6 months each to pursue the Second Level Advanced Course (C2) of the Italian language and Culture course at the University for Foreigners, Perugia;

Eligibility:-

1. Graduate or equivalent degree from a reconised University;

2. Diploma of First Level Advanced Course (C1) from the University for Foreigners, Perugia, Italy.

3. Age not to exceed 35 years.

CATEGORY ‘C’

5 Scholarships with duration of 03 months each to pursue the Second Level Advanced Course (C1) of the Italian Language & Culture course at the University for Foreigners, Perugia.

Eligibility:-

1. Graduate or equivalent degree from a reconised University;

2. Diploma of Second Level Intermediate Course (B2) from the University for Foreigners, Perugia, Italy.

3. Age not to exceed 35 years.

CATEGORY ‘D’

5 Scholarships with duration of 03 months each to pursue the Second Level Intermediate Course (B2) of the Italian Language & Culture course at the University for Foreigners, Perugia.

Eligibility

1. Graduate or equivalent degree from a recognised university;

2. Good knowledge of Italian;

3. Proof of knowledge of Italian language (certificate or diploma).

4. Age not to exceed 35 years.

The scholarship amount of Euro 700 per month is for stay in Italy as well as for the course fee, which is reduced to 50% for scholarship holders of categories B, C, and D. No international/national passage is offered by the Government of Italy for any of these scholarships.

No international travel cost to and fro Italy or local travel cost while in Italy for any Category of the above Scholarships will be paid either by the Government of Italy or by the Government of India. Therefore, an undertaking to the effect (as in Annexure-II) that the international travel cost to and fro Italy and local passage while in Italy (if any) will be borne by the candidates or his/her employers/sponsors should also be submitted along with application

LAST DATE OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

Last date of receipt of applications at the address given above is 31st March, 2010 (Wednesday) (5.30 P.M.). Application received thereafter will not be considered. Application can also be submitted “online” using the Department’s website www.education.nic.in. On line applications will be accepted provided hard copy of the application alongwith enclosures (attested copies of certificates, marks-sheet etc.) reach the Ministry within 7 days of last date of receipt of application.

In accordance with the new procedure, candidates for all the above categories should also register their application ‘on line’ as on 31st March, 2010, with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at:

http://borseonline.esteri.it/borseonline/it/index.asp . Only those candidates who register their applications shall be called for personal interview by Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The registration can be done by reaching the web site:

http://www.esteri.it/MAE/EN/Ministero/servizi/Stranieri/Opportunita/default.htm and by clicking Study Grant Application or by reaching directly at the link: http://borseonline.esteri.it/borseonline/it/register.asp and by pressing the highlighted ‘Accetto’ in order to register their ‘online’ applications.

After registering at http://borseonline.esteri.it/borseonline/it/index.asp, applicants will be able to access a multilingual on-line application form. After specifying language, country of nationality and whether the application is new or a renewal, the applicant then fills out the form; a draft can be saved and changed up until its final submission. If necessary, applicants can seek the help of Italian Cultural Centre for proper filling out the form. On-line forms must be submitted no later than 31st March, 2010. Reception of applications will be confirmed by e-mail.

After filling out and submitting their application forms, applicants must also send the following to the Embassy of Italy and Italian Cultural Centre at 50-E, Chandragupta Marg, Chankyapuri, New Delhi-110021:

Application Form – printed in paper form and signed, with passport-style photo attached;

Two letters of introduction form academic authorities (not required if applicant is unable to produce them due to difficult political conditions, as in the case of refugees or displaced persons);

Letter of acceptance (where required) from the host institution.

The above procedures are obligatory for grant consideration; paper documentation will be date-stamped upon arrival.

DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED :

1. Two recommendation letters from the Indian academic authorities.

2. Documentary evidence of the applicant’s knowledge of the Italian language (like a diploma or certificate).

3. Medical certificate from any R.M.P. (MBBS) showing the applicant’s good general health and mental and physical fitness to undertake course of study abroad.

4. Attested Photostat copies of all degrees/certificates/diplomas starting from Matriculation/Higher Secondary showing the applicant’s qualifications and date of birth.

5. A recent passport size photograph affixed/pasted on the right hand top corner of each application form.

6. A No Objection Certificate from the employer (if employed) to the effect that he/she will be relieved in the event of his/her final selection and that he/she will be taken back on his/her return from Italy.

NOTE :

i) A candidate can apply only for one category of scholarship.
ii) The candidates who have been abroad on scholarship or on their own for more than six months are eligible to apply if they have stayed in India for two years after their return from abroad. However, scholars under the scheme of scholarships for Study Abroad have to complete 5 years stay in India on their return from abroad.
iii) Only interested and eligible candidates may apply.
iv) Candidates who are abroad at present need not apply.
v) Applications received after the last date i.e. 31.03.2010 will not be considered.
vi) Applications giving false information and applications without signature of the candidates will be cancelled.
vii) In case no Division/class is awarded and only grading is done, the conversion formula adopted may be mentioned. Exact percentage of marks should be mentioned.
viii) Employed persons may forward their application through their employer’s alongwith their No Objection Certificate. However, advance applications will be considered but No Objection Certificates will have to be produced at the time of interview.
ix) The Ministry will not be responsible for any postal delay.
x) The applicants must indicate the name of the course and category of scholarships in the space provided in the application format.
xi) No canvassing in any form will be entertained.
xii) No application form will be provided by this Ministry.
