Overview
Rothamsted International (RI) is a UK non-profit organisation working for sustainable agriculture in developing and emerging countries. RI was founded in 1993 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Rothamsted Research. Rothamsted Research is the largest agricultural research centre of the UK, and among the first agricultural research stations in the world.
The Rothamsted International Fellowship Scheme (RIFS) aims to share scientific excellence in agricultural and environmental researchby contributing to the development and dissemination of technologies relevant to sustainable agricultural growth across the developing world. Since 1993, Rothamsted has awarded more than 130 RI Fellowships from 32 countries.
Through the Rothamsted International Fellowship Scheme, scientists undertake projects for 6 to 12 months at Rothamsted Research in the UK. RI Fellowships are directed towards mid-career researchers in agricultural sciences from developing and emerging countries.
Calls are twice a year and the next round of applications is open. The closing date will be the 7 May 2010
Grant Size
The Fellowships offer support of up to £13,200 per annum, provided as a monthly stipend for accommodation and subsistence, travel costs, visa expenses and conference fees (varies by fellows).
Rothamsted International does not:
• Fund students at the start of their careers, nor senior scientists in the later stages of their careers;
• Provide fellowships for general training, or for MSc and PhD studies.
.Experience Required
Applications are invited from mid-career scientists who are citizens of developing or emerging countries, or whose work has been based exclusively within such a country. Most applicants have doctoral status. The applications will be assessed on the basis of their scientific merit, and the potential for long-term research collaboration.

All applications must be submitted in collaboration with a Project Leader at Rothamsted Research using the appropriate RI application form available from Rothamsted.
