UK: Up to 10 funded Doctoral Studentships at University of Sussex - School of Informatics

Overview

The School of Informatics invites applications for up to 10 funded Doctoral studentships. The studentships are funded by the EPSRC and by the School as Informatics Graduate Teaching Assistantships.

The studentships may be in any of the area of the School's four research areas.

• Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems: focuses on the interfaces between the biological and computational sciences, particularly with reference to furthering understandings of brains and minds
• Cognitive and Language Processing Systems: addresses the science and engineering of complex systems for cognitively demanding and language-intensive domains, including the integration of methods from cognitive science and natural language engineering.
• Interactive Systems: seeks to understand and improve the myriad ways that computing now serves humanity from the point of view of their users.
• Foundations of Software Systems: is centred on the theoretical foundations of computing and on ways of enabling the pervasive computing infra-structure of the future.

All the studentships include an annual stipend at standard postgraduate rates, and tuition fees at the level of Home/EU student will be covered. Studentships of up to 3.5 years are available. The Informatics Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) will involve working closely with academic staff on some standard teaching duties


Eligible Candidates

Applicants should have at least a good 2:1 first degree in computing or a related subject.
