Overview
University of Edinburgh - School of Informatics, Institute for Computing Systems Architecture
Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship in the PASTA project, in the Institute for Computing Systems Architecture in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. This positions is funded by an EPSRC project on Automated Synthesis of High Performance Low-power Embedded Systems (EPSRC project number EP/D50399X/1). This post is tenable up to 31st August 2010.
This Research Fellowship will focus firstly on the creation of machine learning models to guide the compiler analysis and optimizations needed to drive the synthesis of flexible application-specific architectures, and secondly on the synthesis of optimizing compilers that target such flexible instruction sets.
Value of this fellowship
£29,704 - £35,469 per annum
Eligibility
Applicants for this post are expected to hold, or have recently submitted, a PhD in a closely-related area, and be capable of contributing to the further development of software tools developed already within the PASTA project.
Previous experience of automated instruction-set extensions, compiler optimisations and a working knowledge of at least one compiler development framework are essential for this post. A good knowledge of computer architecture and some understanding of the behaviour of embedded applications would be desirable.
Fixed Term: until 31st August 2010
