Overview
The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and implemented by IREX, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization. TEA will provide 178 international secondary school teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States.
6 grants are available for this 6 – week program in September - November 2013. Successful Thai teachers will be placed in cohorts of about 22-24 teachers at eight U.S. universities that are selected through a competitive process. The program will consist of academic seminars focusing on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, teaching strategies, and computer training. Intensive English language instruction will be offered to teachers who need it. The program will also include an internship at a U.S. secondary school to actively engage participants in the U.S. classroom environment. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided to participants throughout the program.
Eligible applicants must:
• Be citizens of and residents in Thailand
• Not exceeding 50 years of age at the time of deadline application
• Be secondary-level, full-time teaching department heads at the time of submission and after return with at least five years of classroom experience in either English, Social Study, Math or Sciences
• Hold a master’s degree or higher
• Have an official and valid ITP TOEFL score of at least 425 no more than 1 year old (if not applicable, Fulbright Thailand will organize the ITP TOEFL test for the finalists after the interview)
• Have an approval for a leave of absence from the school/institutional administration and
• Continue teaching for at least five years after completion of the program
• Fulbright alumni are ineligible for this program
Fulbright Thailand administers this program for the U.S. Department of State with agreement of the TUSEF Board. THIS PROGRAM IS NOT A FULBRIGHT PROGRAM
Applicants must submit the original application and 4 complete copies (for a total of 5 sets) of your application. One set of application consist of your completed application form, CV, statement of purpose (essay), Master’s degree’s transcript, one completed recommendation letter as well as completed institution support form and a copy of your passport (or photo identification).
Each complete application should look identical and NOT be stapled. No other form of binding is permitted.
