Overview

Applications are invited for nationals of the following countries to study in Greece under Greek government scholarships 2012:

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Norway, Netherlands, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Candidates should fill in the online application available in the website http://apps.gov.gr/minedu/foreigner_scholarships

The deadline for applications is May 31^st 2011 .

A number of supportive documents, translated in Greek, French or English, should be scanned and uploaded on the online application.

Successful applicants will be formally notified through the Greek embassy in their country or the embassy of their country in Athensand they will be contacted by our Office by e-mail (foitmer.yp@minedu.gov.gr).

The scholarships are:

Monthly allowance:
- 500€, for undergraduate studies and
- 550€, for postgraduate studies or for research.
One-off allowance for settlement expenses:
- 500€, for those who shall be settled to Athens and
- 550€, for those who study away from Athens.

1. AZERBAIJAN	Four(4) scholarships for the summer seminar of Greek Language and Civilization
2. EGYPT	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students who are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year.
3. ETHIOPIA	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Three(3) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve (12) months each. 4. ALBANIA	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve (12) months each. 5. ARMENIA	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Three(3) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
6. BELGIUM a) Flemish Community b) French Community	Three (3) scholarships for a duration of ten(10) months each for postgraduate studies. One of these scholarships shall be granted for Greek language and Civilization studies One (1) scholarship for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
7. BULGARIA	Three(3) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve (12) months each. Five(5) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Six(6) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
8. FRANCE	Six(6) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year.
9.GERMANY	One(1) scholarship for a full cycle of undergraduate studies to the courses of Greek Language and Literature for a duration of ten(10) months per year. Until fifty(50) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research, which can be distributed accordingly to candidates. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Three(3) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
10. DENMARK	Thirty-six(36) ) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research. The duration of each scholarship can be from four(4) to ten(10) months. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar. Applications shall be submitted to the Greek embassy in Copenhagen.
11. ESTONIA	One(1) scholarship annually up to ten(10) months for postgraduate studies or research Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
12. INDIA	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten(10) months.
13. JORDAN	Scholarship renewals of Jordanian students already studying in Greece. Four(4) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten(10) months each. One(1) new scholarship for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months, or, of postgraduate studies for a duration of ten(10) months, for the course of Greek Literature, under the condition that the graduate student shall be exercised to the modern language Department (Greek language and civilization Sector) in the University of Jordan. Candidate selection shall be made by the School of the Arts of Jordan University academic authorities. The Greek ambassador in Jordan or his representative shall participate to the candidate selection procedure. Two(2) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months given to Jordanian citizens of Greek origin. The above two (2) scholarships include both new scholarship grants and also extensions for those already studying, who shall take precedence. Candidates shall be selected by the Jordanian Ministry of Supreme Education competent authorities. The Greek ambassador in Jordan or his representative shall participate to the candidates selection procedure. Two(2) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months to Jordanian christians. These scholarships include also extensions for those already studying. Candidates shall be selected by the Jordanian Ministry of Supreme Education competent authorities. The Greek ambassador in Jordan or his representative shall participate to the candidates selection procedure. Three(3) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research during the whole program duration and for a duration of ten(10) months each for the teachers/professors specialization to the field of new technologies and teaching methodology.
14.IRAN	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten(10) months.
15. IRAQ	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies leading to a Ph.D., for a period of two years each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar
16. IRELAND	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten(10) months to a Greek University or another foundation of Supreme Education.
17. ISRAEL	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
18. ITALY	Thirty(30) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research or diploma thesis preparation. The duration of each scholarship may vary from five(5) to ten(10) months. Two(2) of them can be granted to Archeologists and two(2) to Architects-Restorers or Works of Art Conservators working to Museums for a maximum period of two(2) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year.
19. CHINA	Four(4) scholarships for modern Greek learning for a duration of ten(10) months each. Three(3) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Six(6) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
20. CUBA	One(1) scholarship for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
21. CROATIA	Ten(10) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or up to ten(10) months for research. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
22. CYPRUS	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies for a duration of ten(10) months to a permanent educator of the primary education One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies for a duration of ten(10) months to a permanent educator of the secondary education
23. LATVIA	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten(10) months. b) Up to two (2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
24. LUXEMBURG	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
25. MEXICO	Twenty(20) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research. The duration of each scholarship may vary from five(5) to ten(10) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
26. NORWAY	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. One(1) scholarship for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
27. S. KOREA	One(1) scholarship for the acquisition of a Master or a Doctorate Degree for a duration of at least two(2) academic years. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year.
28. NETHERLANDS	Four(4) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
29. HUNGARY	Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Three(3) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
30. UZBEKISTAN	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
31. UKRAINE	One(1) scholarship for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar. One(1) scholarship for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year.
32. PAKISTAN	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each.
33. PALESTINE	Three(3) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each, with a possibility to renewal. One(1) scholarship for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar for a duration of one(1) month.
34. PERU	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of until ten (10) months each.
35. POLAND	Thirty(30) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research. The duration of each scholarship can be until ten(10) months. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
36. ROMANIA	Three(3) scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of twelve(12) months each per year. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. Three(3) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar on the occasion there shall be a relative agreement between Greece and Romania through the diplomatic route
37. SERBIA	Twenty(20) months for postgraduate studies or research, that can be distributed to the candidates accordingly. The shortest scholarship duration can be five(5) months and the longest duration ten(10) months. Five(5) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
38. SLOVAKIA	Fifteen(15) months for postgraduate studies or research. The duration for each scholarship can be from five(5) to ten(10) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
39. SLOVENIA	One(1) scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for a duration of ten (10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
40. SYRIA	Three (3) scholarships for a full course of undergraduate studies of which three (2) are granted also for studies in Departments of Tourist Business of the Technological Education Institutions (TEI) (Departments of Tourist Business Administration), of twelve (12) months each. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar. Two(2) new scholarships for a duration of ten(10) months each that lead to the acquisition of a Master or a Doctorate Degree
41. TURKEY	Four(4) scholarships for research and for a duration of ten(10) months each. At least one(1) of these scholarships shall be granted to a graduate from the Department of Classical Studies of Istanbul University. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Seven(7) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
42. CZECH REPUBLIC	Fifteen(15) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research. The duration of each scholarship can be from five(5) to ten(10) months. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. Two(2) scholarships for the attendance of the Greek Language and Civilization summer seminar.
43. TUNISIA	Two(2) new scholarships for a full cycle of undergraduate studies for a duration of ten(10) months each. In case where a matter of renewing a scholarship rises, for students which are already scholarship holders, these scholarships shall be counted in advance of the new ones, without exceeding the number of scholarships for each year. One(1) scholarship for a duration of ten(10) months for postgraduate studies or three(3) scholarships of research for a duration of three(3) months each.
44. FINLAND	Eighteen(18) months of scholarship for postgraduate studies or research. The shortest scholarship duration can be three(3) months and the longest duration nine(9) months.

Scholarships for summer seminars in Language and Civilization cover all expenses (tuition fees, accommodation, food allowance, as well as their participation in cultural events).Travel expenses are not covered. Undergraduate Students are exempted from tuition fees. The scholarships for undergraduate studies cover tuition fees for master’s degrees covered by state budget only.

Age limits:

- 25 year’s old for undergraduate studies
- 40 year’s old for postgraduate studies, research or summer seminar
