Overview
The Department of Psychology is an innovative and diverse department with a strong emphasis on high quality teaching and interdisciplinary research. Our research includes studies in workplace stress, well being across the lifespan, motion sickness, complementary therapies, body image, suicidal behaviour, sleep quality, treatment beliefs and experiences, and psychophysiological correlates of health and disease. We work closely with some of the leading research institutions in London and beyond.
The MSc Health Psychology was one of the first to be established in the UK in 1995 and is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), conferring Stage 1 towards registration as a Chartered Health Psychologist. This course provides an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and applied bases of health, illness and disease across the lifespan. In particular, it emphasises the importance of an evidence-based approach to health psychology and develops the core skills necessary for Stage 2 training.
Requirements
We take graduates from a wide range of backgrounds. Potential applicants must have a qualification in Psychology that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS. If your first language is not English, an attainment of at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent must be demonstrated.
If you have an interest in Health Psychology, we can offer you a stimulating and rewarding experience at Westminster based in the heart of London.
Some places are still available for 2009/10.
