Europe: Erasmus Mundus scholarship in Language and Communication Technologies (LCT)

Overview

Prospective students may apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship through the Erasmus Mundus Masters in LCT. NB: Please, note that if you have applied simultaneously to more than 3 Erasmus Mundus Masters Programs this year, the European Commission will NOT consider any of your applications. You will be disqualified immediately and without any further notice.

For the programme 2010-2012, it is projected that the LCT Masters is to receive approximately 17 Erasmus Mundus scholarships. The consortium submits a ranked list to the EU for approval, consisting of a main and waiting list. Students will be notified of their status, that is, whether their name has been placed on either list, by the end of March, 2010 for overseas applicants and the middle of July, 2010 for non overseas applicants.

The final decision about the scholarships will be sent to students as soon as we receive it from the EU. If some students withdraw from the main list, the best students from the waiting list will be upgraded to the main list and will be notified immediately.

1. Erasmus Mundus scholarships

In order to give the Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses in LCT a strong external projection, a scholarships scheme for graduate students and scholars from the whole world is linked to them. This scholarships scheme addresses highly qualified individuals.

See also the EU Erasmus Mundus web site.

The Erasmus Mundus scholarships are divided into two categories:

Category A(overseas) scholarships can be awarded to masters students selected by EMMC consortia who come from a country other than an EU member state, an EEA-EFTA state (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.

Category B(non-overseas) scholarships can be awarded to any masters students selected by EMMC consortia and who are residents or nationals of any of the 27 EU Member countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, Sweden, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Rumania), the EEA-EFTA states (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) or who are residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 month over the last five years in one of these countries.NB: Special note for applicants from Switzerland, Turkey, Western Balkans region (i.e. Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo under UNSC resolution 1244/99, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). Unless otherwise determined due to residency abroad, your application should be submitted under the area "overseas". Your deadline is therefore January 8th, 2010, at which time your application will be given full consideration for a category A overseas scholarship.

Neither Category A nor Category B applicants may exeed the maximal number of simultaneous applications to EM programs: 3

The application for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship is done through the Application Form of the LCT Masters Program, that is, when you apply to the EM LCT program, you are simultaneously applying for the scholarship. The amount of the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for students beginning in 2010 is 24,000 Euros per student per year for overseas students and aproximately 12,000 Euros per student per year for non-overseas students.

2. Consortium Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships will be offered by the consortium and will be allocated to study in each university. They are open to all students (European or Third-country) who have not received other scholarships already. Please, look at Local Information.

The application to a local scholarship, when available, is done through the Application Form of the LCTMasters Program.

3. Erasmus Scholarships

Students from the European Union can apply for a (regular) Erasmus Socrates scholarship for a one year period, even if they have previously received Erasmus Socrates support.
