Erasmus Mundus (SUSCO) Scholarships

Overview

Eurpean Erasmus Mundus Master: Sustainable Constructions under Natural Hazards and Catastrophic Events (SUSCO)

The focus of master course SUSCOS_M is to provide attendees the engineering ability and know-how to design and construct structures in a balanced approach between economic, environmental and social aspects, enhancing the sustainability and competitiveness of the steel industry. The course is organized in three modules covering buildings; bridges and energy-related infra-structures from concrete, steel, timber, and composite structures and equipments with a practice oriented approach. A strong emphasis is given to the reduction of carbon footprint, the energy efficiency of buildings considering a life-cycle approach and the integration in the structural systems of renewable energies and innovative technologies.

The degree awarded is a Master Degree, provided as a multiple diploma. The MSc has duration of three semesters, each 30 ECTS, and is held on a rotating basis among partners. Coursework is concentrated in two countries and dissertation work is divided between all partners. Students may spend one term in one country and the coursework part of the second term in a second country. The dissertation can be carried out at any of the six partner countries.

Language

The courses are lectured in English by academics from all partner institutions and invited teachers from associated members.

Partner universities

SUSCOS is an advanced postgraduate program in Sustainable Steel Construction led by an international consortium of universities. The consortium comprises the 6 following universities:

University of Coimbra, Portugal;
University of Liège, Belgium;
Czech Technical University at Prague, Czech Republic;
Technical University of Lulea, Sweden,
University "Politehnica" of Timisoara, Romania and
University of Naples "Federico II", Italy.


Admission


Specialization in Sustainable Steel Construction

A one year problem-solving practice-oriented study programme focused on conceptual design and execution ofSUSTAINABLE STEEL CONSTRUCTION and the application of the Eurocodes.
Target Audience: All professionals with engineering background.

Master in Civil Engineering (Sustainable Steel Construction)

A one-year specialized programme for MSc students in Civil and Structural Engineering that requires high-quality training in Steel Construction.
Target Audience: Students in Civil Engineering MSc programmes looking for a final year dedicated to Steel Construction.

Advanced Master in Sustainable Steel Construction

A two-year advanced MSc programme providing a solid theoretical and practical background (1st year) and one year of theoretical or applied research (2nd year) in SUSTAINABLE STEEL CONSTRUCTION.
Target audience: All professionals with engineering background.


ERASMUS MUNDUS SUSCOS GRANTS for European students (edition 2012-2014)

Eight European students will be awarded by Erasmus Mundus grant. The grant for alt three terms of Master program
consist of Monthly allowance (17 x 500
) + Participation costs per term (3 x 2000) = Total 14 500 .

The deadline for application for European grants is 10 January 2012 at 24:00 as latest. The information about obtaining the grant will be available in 28 March 2012. The final decision of obtaining the grant by EACEA is expected at the end of March 2012.

ERASMUS MUNDUS SUSCOS GRANTS for third-country students (edition 2012-2014)

Tvelve students will be awarded by Erasmus Mundus grant. The grant for alt three terms of Master program consist of
Monthly allowance (17 x 1 000
) + Participation costs per term (3 x 4 000 ) + Contribution to travel (8 000) =
Total 37 000

The deadline for application for European grants is 10 January 2012 at 24:00 as latest. The information about obtaining the grant will be available in 28 March 2012. The final decision of obtaining the grant by EACEA is expected at the end of March 2012.

ArcelorMittal SUSCOS GRANTS (edition 2012-2014)

Till 12 students will be awarded by ArcelorMittal grant which will cover the European participation cost,
e.g.
Participation costs 3 x 2000 = 6000 .

The deadline for application for ArcelorMittal is 10 April 2012 at 24:00 as latest. The final decision of obtaining the grant will be available in 30 April 2012.

The travel and accommodation expenses of European students may be covered by Erasmus national grant based on bilateral University agreements as well. Please consult your University Erasmus office for your national possibility.

All students interested in SUSCOS European Master degree are kindly requested to fill in the Application form ASAP. Eight European students and twelve students from overseas are to be awarded with the Erasmus mundus grant for covering the expenses for studies. Required documents in PDF

The complete list of courses validated during the Bachelor with the grade obtained in an explained scale (preferentially the ECTS grading scale or the international norm defined by the NCEFEC on a scale from A+ to E). This document must be an official document emanating from the concerned institution with the name and the signature of person in charge of the formation.
Two reference letters emanating from two different teachers, researchers and/or professionals, who have directly known the applicant during a teaching or work period, explaining the applicant’s suitability with respect to the SUSCOS M programme.
A letter of motivation
Curriculum vitae, including additional higher education credits and the relevant professional experience of the candidate.
Copies of all required documents have to be sent in pdf format by e-mail on address eliasova@fsv.cvut.cz.
The receiving of the application will be confirmed by email.
Original documents will be check if the application will be accepted.
