2012 ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei (Singapore)

Overview

Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei.

ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei: Secondary One Scholarships

Students from Brunei who wish to enter Singapore schools at the Secondary 1 level under the ASEAN Scholarships are welcome to apply for the Secondary 1 awards. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships may be considered for theMerit Awards.

Eligibility

Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
  • Nationals of Negara Brunei Darussalam
  • Born between 1998–2000
  • Currently in Primary 6 or Form 1
  • Have done consistently well in their school examinations
  • Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities would be an advantage

Candidates short-listed for the selection test / interview will be notified a week before the selection test/interview dates. We regret that only short-listed candidates will be notified.
Scholars selected to attend the bridging course will be required to arrive in Singapore in November 2012.

Test and Interview Cities

The selection tests and interviews will be conducted in the following cities:
  • Kota Kinabalu
  • Kuala Lumpur
  • Kuching
  • Penang
  • Singapore
Note:
Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Penang may be used as Test / Interview Centre if there are sufficient short-listed candidates.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Allowance of S$2,200) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel accommodation
  2. Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only)
  3. Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of course
  4. Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
  5. Waiver of GCE O-Level and A-Level (or equivalent) examination fees (once only, if applicable)
  6. Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover
  7. Bridging course (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)
  8. There is no bond attached to the scholarship

ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei: Pre-University One Scholarships

Students from Brunei who wish to enter Singapore Junior Colleges at the Pre-University 1 level under the ASEAN Scholarships are welcome to apply for the Pre-University awards. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships may be considered for the Merit Awards.
Please note that there will be no May intake for the ASEAN Pre-University Scholarships for Brunei from Year 2006 onwards. Applications for the Year 2013 ASEAN Pre-University Scholarships open in end February/early March 2012. Short-listed applicants will be required to go through a selection test and an interview before being awarded the scholarships.

  • Nationals of Negara Brunei Darussalam
  • Born between 1994–1996
  • Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2011 GCE O-Level Examination
  • Have done consistently well in their school examinations
  • Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities would be an advantage
