Fulbright Scholarships for Lao Students 2013-2014

Overview

The Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the United States of America are pleased to
announce that the Government of the United States of America is offering the following
scholarships for study in the United States:

Fulbright Scholarships for Laos

Fulbright Scholarships will be awarded under the J. William Fulbright Program for study in a
two-year Master’s Degree program during the 2013 – 2015 academic years (July 2013 – June
2015). Individuals from both the public and the private sectors may apply. Women, minorities
and candidates from outside Vientiane are encouraged to apply.

In addition to the two-year Master’s Degree program, the U.S. Embassy is accepting applications
for the 2013 Fulbright PhD Science and Technology Program. This scholarship, for the 2013-
2016 academic year, is for Ph.D. study at top U.S. institutions in science, technology, or
engineering. The scholarship is among the most prestigious international scholarships in science
and technology.

The Fulbright Program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1946 to increase mutual
understanding between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange
of persons, knowledge, and skills. Fulbright grants will be awarded for graduate study at the
master’s degree level in all fields of study except medicine. (Note: Applications will be accepted
in the field of public health.)

Humphrey Fellowships for Laos

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright program that provides mid-level
professionals from developing countries an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities
through participation in specialized, 10-month, and non-degree programs at selected American
universities. Fellowships will be granted for the 2013-2014 academic year (August 2013 – June
2014). Ideal candidates have a proven track record of leadership, a public service commitment,
and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program of independent study at a
leading U.S. university. The program awards a certificate from the U.S. Government; it is not
designed to deliver an advanced degree. Professionals from both the public and the private
sectors are eligible to apply. Female, minority and candidates from outside Vientiane are
encouraged to apply.
