Singapore: Management Development Scholarship (MDS)

Overview

The Management Development Scholarship (MDS) aims to raise up the next generation of leaders for the trailblazer companies of tomorrow. Through a co-funding scholarship arrangement to pursue renowned graduate business programmes at leading local universities, MDS brings together the potent combination of promising young executives who have high leadership potential and dynamic, high-growth SMEs. 

The MDS will provide funding for the following :

  • Full-time/Part-time MBA : SPRING will provide grant value of up to 50% of tuition fees, and other related expenses for full-time MBA scholars up to a maximum qualifying cost of $54,000 The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME. Refer to the MDS Calender for the full list of approved MBA programmes.
  • Part-time Degrees : SPRING will provide grant value of up to 50% of tuition fees, and other related expenses for part-time degrees at approved Institutes of Higher Learning up to a maximum qualifying cost of $10,000 for qualified SMEs. The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME.
  • Customised Executive Programmes for SMEs
    1. SPRING-NANYANG Hi-Potential Leadership Programme : SPRING will be providing a grant value of up to 50% of the programme fee. The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME. Click here for more information.



Criteria

For SMEs

You can develop existing young managers in your company or attract new talent through the MDS if your company meets the following criteria :
  • An SME* with a minimum annual sales turnover of S$10 million
  • Offers good opportunities for career development and advancement
* The SME criteria consists of the following :
  • At least 30% local (Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident) shareholdings
  • Company group annual sales turnover of not more than S$100 million ORCompany group employment size of not more than 200 workers

For Individuals

You can be a future business leader with a rewarding career in a dynamic, high-growth SME. You can apply for the MDS if you :
  • are currently working in an SME
  • are a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore
  • have 3 to 8 years of working experience
You will need to :
  • apply for a recognised academic programme
  • be working in an SME before embarking on the programme (The SME should meet the criteria as stated above and is willing to participate as a Sponsor Company)
  • serve a bond of up to 2 years in the SME upon completion of your studies 
  • co-signing
