Overview
A two-year post-doctoral position is available to join the newly installed team led by Dr. F. Pecorari at the “Unité de Biotechnology, Biocatalyse et Biorégulation” (UMR-CNRS 6204, Nantes, France).
The research focus is in the area of protein engineering, with special emphasis on the development of novel ligand-binding proteins based on a scaffold alternative to antibodies, which was initially invented at the Pasteur Institute (Paris, France) by our group .
In collaboration with two research units from Institut Pasteur, we intend to expand the potential of recognition of this scaffold. For this purpose, the successful candidate will have to design new combinatorial libraries on the basis of a bio computing analysis. Performing selections using ribosome display, the successful candidate will validate these libraries against several targets. Selected high affinity binders will be produced for quantitative determination of binding affinity and selectivity using Elisa, micro calorimetry and surface plasmon resonance assay formats. Their use for immuno detection reagents will be also evaluated. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biochemistry with strong molecular biology and protein engineering backgrounds.
The laboratory provides state-of-the-art research facilities in protein and molecular biology fields (microcalorimeter, circular dichroism, fluorimeter, etc). The group has access to the Biacore 2000 and 3000 located to the platform of IFR26 in Nantes.
The position is available as early as December 2009, for two years and is founded by Institut Pasteur.
Contract: Fix-term
Type of contract: Private.
