Overview
The IUEU Centre offers scholarships for research projects leading to a Ph.D. One scholarship in 2010 will be offered at La Trobe University in Melbourne.
The scholarship, of three and a half years duration, is available for projects focused on the European Union, the integration process in general, or related areas of research. It may be based in Politics, International Relations, History, Law, European languages and culture, Economics, Commerce or another discipline appropriate to the particular proposal. While applications are welcome in any of the above fields, applications are especially invited from those planning to work in relation to post-Communist societies in Central and Eastern Europe.
Stipends and benefits
Stipends and other benefits associated with the scholarship will be in line with the normal arrangements for postgraduate scholarships at La Trobe University.
The IUEU Centre is based on a consortium of seven universities, with La Trobe University as the lead institution and Flinders, Griffith, Macquarie, Murdoch and Newcastle as partner universities.
While the principal supervisor will be located at La Trobe University, where appropriate the Centre may consider co-supervision from another university in the consortium where an appropriate expert is located. Applicants should provide the names (if any) of potential co-supervisors at any of the partner universities.
The selection process for these scholarships will be competitive and eligibility requires completion of an Honours degree or equivalent at First Class level. The scholarships are open to applicants either from within Australia or internationally. For international students evidence of English language proficiency is required.
Deadline: 30 November 2009.
