Greece: A RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN GEOARCHAEOLOGY - The American School of Classical Studies at Athens

Overview

Those Eligible: Scholars with a Ph.D. and graduate students working on a doctoral dissertation.

Purpose: To allow individuals with a well-defined project, working either alone or in collaboration with local research institutions, to address significant archaeological questions in areas of study which may include quarried stone, lithics, building materials, ceramics, soil, and sediment studies or environmental studies.

Other Duties: To contribute to the development of the Lab; to contribute to the Lab's permanent collections of lithic, ceramic and building materials; to assist with queries from excavators; to offer a lecture on his/her project; to participate in one Regular Program School trip; and to contribute to seminars on aspects of archaeological science as part of the School's annual curriculum.

Duration: Academic year, beginning in September. Projects must be carefully planned for completion during this time.


Terms: Stipend from $15,500 to $27,000, depending on seniority and experience. School fees will be deducted from the fellowship stipend. Fellowship does not include travel costs, housing, board, and other living expenses.
