Overview
CAAD supports and advances research across the range of art, design, architectural and media practices. Research in the Centre is concerned with the application of critical, theoretical and historical perspectives to these practices, in the recognition that art, design, architecture and media re-present social and cultural meanings and their potential transformation.
Art, design and media research embraces exploration of cultural process and product. Applications are invited for research investigating areas of visual culture which relate to the following:
• process and iteration in design
• aesthetics of meta-pattern recognition
• integration of touch as a complementary sensory culture
Application Deadline: 20 November 2009, Start date 1 February 2010. The studentship offers £13,290 plus fees for a maximum of three years. UK/EU residence eligibility conditions apply.
Applicants will have a good first degree (minimum 2.1 or equivalent) and ideally a Masters (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area. Applications should include:
• a full CV including personal details, qualifications, educational history and, where applicable, any employment or other experience relevant to the application
• contact details for TWO referees able to comment on your academic performance
• a statement of 1,000 (words) outlining your proposed project, identifying the objectives of the research and discussing how the work will build on or challenge existing research in the field.
