Russian Government Scholarships

Overview

Annually the Government of the Russian Federation grants scholarships to the citizens of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for complete course of higher education (Bachelor’s degree, graduated specialists, Master’s degree) and for post-graduate education and training.

Most of the Russian institutions of higher education have two stage system: Bachelor's degree (with a normative course length of four years) and Master's (two years more). Foreign students are required to do a one year Russian language course at the University.


The specialities of culture and art and speciality “international relations” are not covered by Government’s scholarshipprogramme.


The requirements for candidates:

  1. all the candidates should have secondary education certificate with no less than B grades. The period between graduation from the secondary school (or any other pre-tertiary institution) and date of application for a scholarship should not be more than 3 years. The post-graduate course candidates should have Master’s degree and some work experience in the field of the chosen speciality.
  2. The preferable age range of candidates: for the complete course of higher education – not older than 25 years, for post-graduate course – not older than 35 years.
  3. be practically healthy and should not have any medical condition that is incompatible with living and studying in the climatic conditions of Russia; in case of appearance of any serious diseases and medical conditions foreign citizens would be sent back to their native country at their own expense or at the expense of the Sending Part.
  4. documents for the complete course of higher education: a dossier including application form, notarized copy of secondary education certificate with grades, medical certificate of good health including absence of HIV/AIDS, notarized copy of birth certificate, copy of passport (valid for at least 18 months), 8 photos (size 4x6).
  5. documents for post-graduate training: a dossier including application form, notarized copy of secondary education certificates with grades, notarized copy of Master’s degree certificate with transcript, list of personal publications (if any), a synopsis (up to 2 pages) on chosen area of study, medical certificate of good health including absence of HIV/AIDS, notarized copy of birth certificate, copy of passport (valid for at least 18 months), 8 photos (size 4x6).



The Selection Committee of the Federal Agency on Education reserves the right to reject candidates’ documents if same are prepared without consideration of the above mentioned requirements or they are incomplete.

The Russian Government will provide foreign scholars admitted to the Russian institutions of higher education with the following:

  1. basic training facilities (hostel, library etc.).
  2. a minimal fee will be paid by the student for use of the hostel.
  3. stipend in accordance with corresponding categories of Russian students: post-graduate students and trainees 1500 rubles (equal at present rate to 62 US dollars) per month and for students 900 rubles (equal at present rate to 37 US dollars) per month;
  4. the city and institution of training will be determined by the Russian Government.

Students arriving in Russia should:

  1. be adequately equipped with clothing and footwear for all seasons;
  2. have financial means necessary to cover all expenses during the whole period of study (not less than 200 US dollars per month);
  3. on arrival each candidate must acquire medical insurance (up to 200 US dollars per year);

The Russian Part will not bear travel expenses of the accepted candidates. Host institutions of higher education are not obligated to accommodate family members of foreign students, post-graduate students and trainees.
The Sending Part shall bear all of the travel expenses of students to Russia and back to their native country after graduation as well as in case of being expelled from the institute for unsatisfactory progress or other reasons.
On obtaining an entry visa the candidate should sign list of financial conditions of staying in Russia.
