Overview Science & Innovation Leadership Programme The Programme offers an intense 11-week course at the prestigiousSaïd Business School, University of Oxford. Its wide range of modules will include lectures, workshops, visits and interactions with high profile companies and scientists and will bridge pure research and business/scientific entrepreneurship, practical processes of innovation, commercialisation of research and technology transfer. The course is aimed at some of India's brightest scientists, business people and public servants. The ideal candidate should be a mid-career government, science or media professional with leadership potential and experience in any of the following or similar disciplines: research, technology, manufacturing, business development, or business and public administration. There will be three main modules: Science , Innovation and Policy. Each module will include lectures, workshops and discussions that focus on relevant ideas, institutions and introduce the group to experts and opinion leaders, together with a significant element of practice, including case studies, visits and projects. A programme of external speakers, visits, project and events will ensure lively variety of engagement with UK institutions throughout, as well as properly diverse pedagogy. We are seeking applicants who can lead change in science and technology-related fields. Applicants should be able think creatively, to develop collaboration between India and the UK, often in complex and fast-moving areas. The ideal candidate is a mid-career government, science, or business professional who has demonstrated exceptional potential leadership skills and an aptitude for innovation. The programme will be broad-based and demanding. Chevening scholars will have the opportunity to develop their own contacts. Candidates will therefore need to demonstrate independent thinking, the ability to work in diverse teams as well as individually, excellent academic qualifications, and above all the motivation to contribute constructively to the programme. Candidates will be expected to have had at least ten years work experience after their first degree, and expect to have at least fifteen working years ahead after the end of the programme. Applications are invited from exceptional candidates from public, private and NGO sectors. Candidates should have either a strong academic background in science or technology or considerable experience of working in such fields. Their work should ideally be cross-disciplinary and of a type where developing links with UK industry and research is of mutual benefit.
