Overview

The eChevening system is open for 2012/2013 applications. The application should be completed and submitted online by 5 December 2011.

Have you recently enrolled, or are about to enrol, on a twelve month postgraduate course in the UK? Do you want help with funding your studies? Are you already experienced in your chosen career? Would you like to develop your career and become part of an influential global alumni? Then a British Chevening Scholarship could be right for you.

WHAT IS A CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP?

The Chevening Scholarship Programme is a prestigious awards scheme that funds international postgraduate students who want to study in the UK. Funded by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and administered by the British Council, the scheme operates in over 150 countries and annually provides funding for over 2,300 students.

The scholarships fund a whole year of postgraduate study or no less than three months’ courses in the UK only. This includes:

a gratis student visa
all your academic fees
a monthly allowance to cover living expenses
an arrival and departure allowance to help with travel
a book and clothing allowance
travel costs to and from the UK

WHAT COURSES DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?
The scholarship funds most Masters courses, running over a period not less than three months up to 12 months.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE A CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP?
The Chevening scholarship is a prestigious award that gives the chance to experience a world-renowned educational system. In addition, this provides you with the opportunity to experience UK life and meet other Chevening scholars. Once you become a Chevening scholar, you will discover many opportunities to develop your career and become a future leader in your field.

CAN I APPLY?
You can apply for a Chevening scholarship if you are a postgraduate student who can prove your academic success and who has already begun a career in your chosen field. You'll be expected to show you have at least two years' working experience, with an excellent track record illustrating your achievements, and evidence that you will become a leader in your chosen field. You will also need an upper second class degree or higher.

There is no age limit but you must be a resident in Montenegro when you apply.

You must have good English language skills. Most UK Higher Education Institutions require a minimum IELTS of 6.5 for admission onto postgraduate courses.

One of the main aims of the scheme is to assist successful candidates in playing leading roles in the future of their country. Applicants will normally be selected from those who wish to take courses in: economics, finance, banking, law, human rights, public administration, management, project planning, media, political science, European integration, international relations and diplomatic training, although applicants for other courses may be considered.

You are expected to show a commitment to return to Montenegro, where you will contribute to the country's socio-economic development using the new skills and knowledge acquired during your stay in the UK.

You cannot apply for a scholarship for undergraduate or PhD study.

HOW TO APPLY

Within the e-Chevening application system there is a field relating to English language test. If you haven’t taken IELTS or TOEFL before, then applicants may instead enter the date on which they plan to take their IELTS, e.g. 18 February 2012. We will update application records for successful candidates once their results are received.

Candidates applying for Chevening scholarships will need to apply online.

The application form should be completed and submitted online by 05 December 2011.

Applications sent by email or in hard copy will not be accepted.
