Overview
In April 2009 Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) signed a joint agreement with Fundación Beca (FB) and Lumni Mexico, with the objective of awarding one joint scholarship for a qualified candidate from Latin America to undertake the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program in the academic year 2010-2011.
Fundación Beca (FB) is a private, non-profit organization, which contributes to Latin America’s development by supporting talented young people to undertake higher education overseas. They provide help for education in universities of great worldwide prestige, through; scholarships, loans for students without a guarantor, an employment bureau system (BEST) that links alumni to important companies interested in hiring talented young people in specific areas, and a voluntary work system that students perform in social institutions when they come back. Their mission is to offer postgraduate studies to young people with talent within the fields of science, economy, politics and culture in order to help towards the success of the development of Latin America. http://www.fundacionbeca.org
Lumni Mexico is a corporation that finances the postgraduate studies of students with a good professional and academic potential and supports their professional careers by offering consultancy, workshops, conferences, and an employment exchange. Lumni Mexico and FB have made an alliance that will allow students to obtain a complementary funding to their scholarship. http://www.lumni.com.mx/
Coverage
ZLC provides a 40% tuition scholarship for the ZLOG Program, equivalent to €8,600 and FB grants $800 for a flight ticket and an insurance to cover medical expenses (not pharmaceutical). Finally Lumni will support the candidate with an additional funding of up to $150,000 MXP (for Mexican students only) in return of a percentage of the students income during a fixed time period. The funding conditions are to be agreed on between the candidate and Lumni.
Eligibility & Requirements
The scholarship can only de awarded only to a student who has been admitted to ZLOG Program through the regular admissions procedure. Furthermore, the applicants should display exceptional academic achievement and distinctive personal accomplishment in addition to an interest in pursing a career in Logistics/Supply Chain Management.
Finally, eligible candidates must comply with the following criteria:
-Be a national and resident of one of the following Latin-American countries: Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Uruguay.
-Have completed the application for the ZLOG Program through the Foundation’s regular admissions process.
-Have completed a four year undergraduate program equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree with an average grade of 8.0.
-Be fluent in English, minimum TOEFL score of 105 points in the Internet based test.
-Have a competitive GMAT or GRE score. Exceptions may be granted to individuals who have demonstrated strong academic achievement in completing a college degree
- including some quantitative training - and evidence of advanced verbal and written proficiency in the English language.
-Have professional excellence in Logistics/Supply Chain Management or exceptional academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.5 on the scale of 4.0 or equivalent).
-Have two years of working experience (preferably but not mandatory).
-Be of an age between 23 and 35 (preferably but not mandatory).

A. The applicants must have been admitted to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program through the Foundation’s regular admissions procedure.

FB and Lumni will verify the applications and in case they are approved they will be interviewed by FB and Lumni. The preselected candidates will thereafter be evaluated by the ZLOG Evaluation Committee where after the final candidate will be selected.
Deadline for Application
The deadline for application is April 15th 2010. Early application is however encouraged.
Conditions
Once the candidate has finished the ZLOG Program he/she should participate in the Social Responsibility Program of FB through which the candidate will be helping out in a social project for 120 hours. For further information about this program please contact:
