Overview
The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education organised by the European Commission. It aims to enhance quality in European higher education and to promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third countries.
The programme is intended to strengthen European co-operation and international links in higher education by supporting high-quality European Masters Courses, by enabling students and visiting scholars from around the world to engage in postgraduate study at European universities, as well as by encouraging the outgoing mobility of European students and scholars towards third countries.
Five leading research and educational institutions in Europe are collaborating to offer a joint Erasmus Mundus Master of Science program in Photonics, providing a top-quality eduction in all aspects of photonics. The master programme has a duration of two years (120 ECTS points), with students spending a year in two different countries.

Photonics
Photonics is now widely recognized as a major innovation enabling discipline for the 21st century. It can be defined as that field of science and technology where the fundamental properties of light and its interaction with matter are studied and applied.
Scholarships
Full scholarships are available for non-EU students to cover the tuition fee and all living expenses(24000€/year).
Limited scholarships available for EU students (10000€/year). Other grants for EU students are also available.
Category A or B student?
In the framework of the Erasmus Mundus programme, the financial aid that can be obtained, is strongly depending on the fact whether you are considered as a Category A or B student.
Category A students:
All non-EU students who have NOT carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the EU-countries.
Category B students:
All EU students
All non-EU students who have carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the EU-countries.
