Overview
Each year the British Trade and Cultural Office (BTCO) offers a number of prestigious scholarships to give promising Taiwanese young professionals the opportunity to develop their skills at British universities and colleges. Awards will be made to candidates wishing to study on one-year postgraduate courses or research attachments. The scheme is administered in Taiwan by the British Council Taipei.
The BTCO scholarship scheme is linked to a global programme which offers around 2,300 scholarships annually, enabling future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers from overseas to become familiar with the UK and British values, and to make contacts with British institutions and companies which can continue throughout their careers.
Starting 2008, we are pleased to be able to cooperate with the Delta Electronics Foundation to provide an additional scholarship. This will be specifically for those who plan to use the experience they gain in the UK to further environmental protection issues in Taiwan on their return, in particular climate change. Applicants can chose any course but must be able to demonstrate their determination to use the skills they acquire (e.g. journalism, science etc) to work for environmental protection.
Successful applicants will enjoy a scholarship covering course fees (up to £12,000) and support and assistance from the British Council in the UK.
