Overview
The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarship is a scholarship system that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology offers. As the scholarship is divided into“Domestic Selection” available after coming Japan, “University Recommendation” and “Embassy Recommendation” available before coming Japan , requirements and application period also differ.
(1) Domestic selectionBy this scholarship system, the Japanese Government selects self-supported students who are already enrolled in a university in Japan. There are two classifications, one is “Undergraduate Students (undergraduate-level)” and the other is “Research Students (graduate-level)”. Please ask for details at the Division of International Services (ISC Office).

(2) University recommendation
Students coming to a Japanese university from their own country can apply for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarship through the university in Japan which they intend to enroll in.
University recommendation is only for Research Students (graduate-level), and Undergraduate Students (Undergraduate-level) are ineligible.

Students coming to a Japanese university from their own country can apply for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarship through the Japanese Embassy or Consulate.
