IHU Master's Scholarship in Black Sea Cultural Studies

Overview

The School of Humanities is launching the “MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies”, which is based on an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the history and culture of the Black Sea region, an area of increasing geopolitical and economic importance. The Black Sea region was and continues to be one of the great international cultural gateways, something very important for Europe as well as for Asia and the East. During the last decades, Research Institutions and University
Departments all over the world promote research programmes concentrated on this specifi c area, which has rich scientific material to off er.

The Master’s Programme “MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies” provides the student with an outstanding opportunity to specialise in a research domain of great signifi cance in our times. The ambitious aim of our distinguished scientists is to offer compact, hands-on and thorough knowledge.



Admissions:

While admission to the IHU is competitive, our admissions policy vigorously supports equality
of opportunity. We are focused on building a student community which includes men and
women from diff erent backgrounds, abilities, economic circumstances, perspectives, races,
religions and national origins.

When to apply:

IHU operates on a rolling admissions basis. This means that candidates apply for, and are
admitted to our programmes all year round. We suggest, however, that you apply as early as
possible to ensure a quick response and place availability. We aim to provide decisions within
two weeks of receiving your complete application. Please ensure that you complete the application form fully and submit all your supporting documents for us to make an informed
decision.

Entry Requirements:

To consider your application* for the IHU Masters you need:

- a good university degree (certifi ed copy and transcript)
- a good IELTS or TOEFL score or a Certifi cate of Profi ciency for graduates from non-English speaking universities
- two academic references (both referees should have direct knowledge of your suitability
for the specifi c Master programme)
- A personal interview may be required.

Apply for a scholarship

The IHU offers a number of scholarships for the MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies programme, covering a significant proportion of the programme fees.

These scholarships are competitive. Award criteria include the quality of the first degree, the undergraduate grades of the candidate, his/her command of the English language and overall profile.

Candidates for scholarships should submit their scholarship request following the receipt of their acceptance letter from IHU.

Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarships programme for foreign students from developing countries – academic year 2010-11

Within the framework of Hellenic Development Cooperation and Assistance, Hellenic Aid grants for the academic year 2010—2011, 100 scholarships for studies in Greece to nationals of countries included in the list of the Development Assistance Committee of OECD.

The deadline for submitting applications to the Greek authorities abroad is July 30, 2010.

Hellenic Aid evaluates all submitted applications, selects the scholars and announces the results to successful applicants via the Greek authorities in the recipient countries, around September.

Postgraduate candidates must have been admitted in a University Postgraduate Course, before they apply for the Hellenic Aid scholarship.
