Overview
Am I eligible?
Santander Graduate Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence.
Candidates can either be applying to start a new graduate course, or continuing on the same course in 2011-12. Your first or an earlier degree must be from a university in the Santander Universities Network, and you should be national of one of the following countries:
Argentina | Brazil |
Chile | Colombia |
Mexico | Peru |
Portugal | Puerto Rico |
Spain | Uruguay |
Venezuela |
Please note that the following countries are also eligible:
China, Russia, UK and USA.
What does it cover?
The value of the award is £5,000. The award is tenable for one year only.
Some awards for new students (i.e. those whose course will start in 2011-12) may be offered in conjunction with a Clarendon Scholarship or Scatcherd Scholarship and therefore would be part of a fully funded scholarship package. This would apply if you are successful in being nominated through the selection process for either Clarendon or Scatcherd. See also How do I apply? below.
All other Santander Graduate Awards (which could be to both new and continuing students) will be offered as standalone awards, and will be paid directly to the scholar to be used towards fees or living expenses.
How do I apply?
Apply by completing the application form (please see downloads) and submit your application by email. Your application must by received by Friday 24 June 2011, midnight UK time. You can only be considered for a Santander Graduate Award if by 24 June 2011 you are either already enrolled as a student, or you have been offered a place to study on a graduate course starting in 2011-12.
For students starting a new course in October 2011:
Students starting a new course in October 2011 should additionally select Santander Abbey in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form and must complete their application form in full in order for an admissions decision to have been made by the Santander Graduate Award deadline of 24 June 2011.
If you are from Spain or Portugal, you should also select Scatcherd European in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form, and apply for a Research Council Studentship to be considered for a joint Santander-Scatcherd European Scholarship.
If you are from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay or Venezuela, you should also select Clarendon Fund in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form to be considered for a joint Santander-Clarendon Scholarship.
How will I know if I have been successful?
We expect to notify successful candidates in early July 2011.
A notice will appear on here when decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on their applications.
