Overview
Applications are invited for a PhD student to work on a project investigating the distribution of the roots of integer polynomials. This will involve study in the areas of analytic number theory and Diophantine approximation.
The PhD is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) with a maintenance grant of €18,500 per annum + fees. Funding is also available for travel to conferences and other institutions.
Start date 1st October 2011.
Ideally, applicants will have a first class degree or masters in pure mathematics preferably with a good background in Number Theory or Analysis although this is not essential. A reasonable
standard of english is also required.
