St. Gallen Symposium Student Essay Competition for International Students to Visit Switzerland

Overview

The St. Gallen Symposium aims to foster the intergenerational and intercultural dialogue between the Leaders of Today and the Leaders of Tomorrow. The 42nd symposium under the topic “Facing Risk” will take place from 3–4 May 2012 at the University of St. Gallen.

Be part of the 42nd ISC-Symposium in St. Gallen, Switzerland and meet over 600 decision makers from politics, business and society.

You and 200 other students from all over the world have the opportunity to qualify for participation in the 42nd ISC-Symposium, which will be held on 3,4 May 2012, at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and to take part in all discussions, workshops and Evening Events.

Benefits

Travel expenses and accommodation are covered by the conference. Furthermore, the three winners will be awarded prizes of a value totaling 20,000 Euro- plus a chance to present to the assembly and thus make a personal contribution to the content of the ISC-Symposium.

In case you are keen on broadening your horizon, building up important contacts and meeting other students from all over the world, all you have to do is to contribute your visions and entrepreneurial ideas on the general topic “Facing Risk”.

Your contribution can have the form of an essay, a scenario, a project report or proposal, a multimedia presentation, an entrepreneurial concept or any other form of professional work
which you would like to present. It should be constructive, provocative or instructive and has to be written in English, French or German.


Online Application


To apply online for the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award we kindly ask you to first create an account (Registration). If you already have login details please proceed directly to the Login. After your login you may register for the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award, in this form your personal details as well as your contribution and the other required files (see below) are included. After submitting the form you will be sent an e-mail, confirming that your application has been received.

The online application is only available until 1 February 2012, 11:59 p.m., last time zone (UTC -12).

Please note that files exceeding 5 MB in size need to be sent to the ISC on a CD or DVD by post until 1 February 2012 (date of postmark).

In addition to your contribution the following files are required for your application

» the abstract (separate file)
» a copy of your passport or other official form of ID
» confirmation of matriculation from your university by February 2012

This online platform was enabled through the long-term co-operation between Accenture, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft and the International Students’ Committee (ISC) St. Gallen. It provides a framework for an easier application and a simplified administration of the award.


Offline Application

Please send your contribution in duplicate along with
» the application form (Download),
» the abstract (separate sheet),
» a copy of your passport or other official form of ID,
» confirmation of matriculation from the university by February 2012 and
» a CD containing your contribution (without syllabification) and the abstract (separate file)
