UK: Environment and Sustainability AHRC Doctoral Awards

Overview

The College of Humanities is delighted to be offering excellent funding opportunities for exceptional researchers across a range of subjects in the broad thematic area of Environment and Sustainability. We are offering:

Up to two highly prestigious AHRC Doctoral Awards (open to UK/EU students only): all tuition fees paid for three years. UK students will also receive an annual maintenance grant for three years, which we expect to be £13,590 per year.

The College of Humanities at the University of Exeter has considerable research strengths in the area of Environment and Sustainability studies. This has been recognised in the designation of Environment and Sustainability as one of the themes of the University’s new interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Science Strategy. There is particular strength in areas like environmental archaeology and history, literary and cultural representations of identity, place and sustainability, and in environmental ethics. This activity sits alongside and complements the work of the University’s new Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI). We offer a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate research and practice and welcome students from all around the world.
