UK: Bennett Boskey Career Development Fellowship In International Relations, Oxford University

Overview

The College proposes to appoint a Fixed Term Fellow in International Relations. The position, which is strictly temporary will be tenable for two years from 1 September 2012 to 31 August 2014, renewable for a third and final year until 31 August 2015. The Fellow will be required to undertake tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates up to a maximum of six (weighted) hours per week averaged over the three terms of the academic year, to set and mark college examinations, and to participate in the admissions process. The Fellow should be able to teach for the following subjects: the second year core paper in International Relations (Paper 214) and International Relations in the Era of the Cold War (213). It would be an advantage if a candidate was willing to teach one or more of the following papers: Introduction to Politics (1st year); Political Sociology (220); Theory of Politics (203). Course descriptions are available at http://www.ppe.ox.ac.uk/index.php/course-content-politics. It is also a requirement that the Fellow engage in advanced study and research, such that the College could reasonably expect to submit the postholder as part of its return for the Research Excellence Framework, which we expect to be held in 2014, and for which the census date will be in late 2013.

The Fellow will be appointed on Grade 7 points 1 - 8 of the University's Salary Scale, (currently £29,099 - £35,788 pa), commensurate with experience and inclusive of College Housing Allowance.

Further particulars may be obtained from the College website at http://www.exeter.ox.ac.uk/college/vacancies or the Academic Administrator, Exeter College, Oxford, OX1 3DP, e-mail: academic.administrator@exeter.ox.ac.uk.

Applications should be submitted, preferable by an emailed pdf file, direct to the Academic Administrator (academic.administrator@exeter.ox.ac.uk) and should include a brief covering letter with list of subjects on the Oxford syllabus on which candidates are currently able to give undergraduate tutorials, lectures, or classes; a full curriculum vitae with publications; one item of written work, to a maximum length of a thesis chapter or article, published or unpublished (co-authored pieces should be identified as such); and the names and addresses of three referees. Applications should be received not later than noon on Wednesday 1 February 2012. Referees should be asked to write, without request from the College; their letters to be received by the Academic Administrator not later than the same date. Interviews will be held in Oxford on Thursday 1 March 2012.
