Overview
Seoul National University provides two tuition waivers for undergraduate students to attend the SNU International Summer School (SNU ISI). Seoul National University is one of Korea's foremost universities. For more information on the SNU ISI: http://oia.snu.ac.kr/summer/
Scholarship Value
Scholarships include full tuition waivers to attend the SNU summer program, plus (economy class, non-refundble) airfare. Students are responsible for housing, meals and living expense costs.
How to apply
Apply directly to the Korea Institute, not via the SNU on-line application form. This SNU Tuition Waiver application is on one application for all 3 Summer Tuition Waivers (SNU, Sogang and Yonsei Universities) found on the CARAT web-based system.
Students are encouraged to apply to OIP (Office of International Programs) for David Rockefeller funding to cover the above costs not covered by the Tuition Waiver. Note that Rockefeller grants are for a period of 8 weeks. Or apply to OIP for an OIP Summer Award. The Korea Institute may offer a round of very limited supplemental funding, only after other primary funding sources have been sought
A completed application requires 1 Original Set and 3 Xeroxed Sets:
- Korea Institute-Summer Tuition Waivers Application (for SNU, Sogang, Yonsei Universities); Available in December on CARAT (https://asperin.fas.harvard.edu/carat/), Harvard's web-based common application tool, listed under Korea Institute-Summer Tuition Waivers (SNU, Sogang, Yonsei Universities)
- Current resume or CV
- Statement of purpose (1 page maximum, single spaced) Please tell us why you want to study at the University you selected as your first choice. Specifically address your academic goals and what you expect to gain from your experience in Korea.
Official Transcript (Sealed Original)
- One Letter of recommendation from a faculty member, instructor, TF or resident tutor who can best evaluate your academic work. (Signed & sealed original)
After entering your info in CARAT, you will also need to turn in the Tuition Waivers
- Application, Resume, Official Transcript, Statement, Recommendation & the CARAT Cover Sheet in person
Apply to OIP via CARAT for Harvard College Funding (for either OIP or David Rockefeller Grants) also due Feb 12, 2010
After entering your info in CARAT, you will also need to turn in the completed Tuition Waivers Application, Resume, Official Transcript, Statement, Recommendation & the CARAT Cover Sheet in person, in a sealed envelope by Friday, February 12, 2010 to:
