Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering (COSSE) - Erasmus Mundus Programme

Overview

The Erasmus Mundus programme "Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering" (COSSE) is a joint initiative of four European universities:

- KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
- Technical University of Berlin, Germany
- Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands
- Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen- Nürnberg, Germany

The field of computer simulations is of great importance for high-tech industry and scientific/engineering research, e.g. virtual processing, climate studies, fluid dynamics, advanced materials, etc. Often the field is referred to as the third pillar of science complementing theory and experiments.

COSSE is a two-year master's programme offering a double degree from two universities. The students enter one of the universities and continue the second year at one of the other institutions in another country. COSSE offers education of the highest international standard as well as a unique experience of meeting different European cultures, languages, climate and nature.

Students from any country are welcome to apply. A number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available.

Eligibility

The following requirements must be met in order to be eligible for admission to the COSSE programme. Please also note that the programme has a limited number of places and that a selection takes place amongst eligible students.

The requirements are based on:

- Previous studies
- Language requirements
- Documentation

Applicants must provide proof of their proficiency in English, which is most commonly established through an internationally recognized test.

The following TOEFL test scores are accepted as a minimum:

Selection criteria

The number of study places available for the COSSE programme is limited and the application process is highly competitive. The selection process is based on a total evaluation of the following: university, content of degree/s, study success, motivation letter, references, relevant work experience, publications (including scientific posters etc) and proficiency in English.

Applicants are encouraged to attach Graduate Record examination scores (GRE general Test as well as GRE Subject Tests in Computer Science and Mathematics), to assist the evaluation committee in assessing how the selection criteria are met.

Please note: Being accepted to the Master Programme does not guarantee that you will be assigned to your mobility option preference. The option attribution is based on preference but is not automatically satisfied.
