Overview
The Oxford Brookes University Department of Psychology (School of Social Sciences & Law), the Westminster Institute of Education, and the School of Health and Social Care are launching a new joint Doctoral Training Programme (DTP) in "Children and Young People: Psychological, Educational and Health Perspectives". As a strategic part of this initiative, we invite applications for four 3-year full-time PhD studentships.
Amount Awarded
For successful candidates the level of the home/EU fee will be paid by the university and students will receive an annual bursary of £12,500 in 2010/11, increasing by 4% each year.
Applications are welcomed in the following areas:
•Exploring the Perceptions of Parents, Children and Health Professionals: Conceptualisations of Childhood Obesity.
•Communicating with Children’s Social Services: What Makes an Effective Child Protection Referral?
•Evaluating Health Visitor Assessments of Mother-Infant Interactions.
•How do Personality Characteristics Influence the Relationship between Alcohol Messaging, Alcohol Attitudes and Drinking Behaviour in Young People?
•Embodied, Embedded, Cognition as a Basis for Preventing Risky Behaviour in Young People.
•The Information and Supportive Care Needs of Children and Young People whose Parents have Cancer.
•Family Cognitions and Family Sleep: A Descriptive Study and an Intervention Trial.
•Handwriting Skill in the Primary School: Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
•Writing Development and Technological Tools in the Classroom.
•The Learning of Everyday Motor Skills in Children with and without Developmental Coordination Disorder.
•The Development of Categorization in Infancy: Experiments and Computational Models.
•Interprofessionality: Making Systems Work for Vulnerable Children and Young People.
•The Leadership and Management of Collaborative Professional Practice Provision for Children and Young People.
Eligible Candidates
We are looking to recruit candidates of the highest quality. The successful candidate is expected to have completed, or be in the process of completing, an ESRC recognised Masters or equivalent.
The closing date for applications is 2 June 2010.
Interview date: 28 June 2010.
Start date: 20 September 2010.
