Overview
Students with or who are expected to obtain a high 2(1) or first class undergraduate degree in Psychology are invited to apply for this scholarship, which is offered for a three year period to support research in relation to depression and is to be held within the Department of Psychology. One or more scholarships may be available.
Applications must be focused in one of 4 specific areas of interest:
• depression in childhood diabetes (Prof Chris Eiser)
• depression in relation to self disgust (Dr Paul Overton)
• social support and postnatal depression (Prof Pauline Slade)
• self help interventions for depression (Dr Tom Webb)
Outlines of these project areas and contact details of supervisors can be found in the further particulars. Candidates are encouraged to contact the named supervisor directly prior to any application and should specify the project area of interest in their application.
Requirements for applied scholarships include highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with appropriate levels of autonomy.
Benefits
The Trust provides fees at the standard UK/EU rate (£3390 per annum in 2009-10) and a maintenance allowance at the Research Council rate (£13,290 per annum in 2009-10), plus support for Research Training (£500 per annum). Overseas students are eligible to apply but must be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the difference between the UK and overseas tuition fee.
