Improved Infection Control in Hospitals
The U.S. Agency for International Development is pleased to announce the beginning of recruitment for the “Improved Infection Control in Hospitals” Community Connections Program. Community Connections is a program of cultural and professional exchange for Turkmenistan professionals. Finalists of this program will travel to the United States to participate in a three-week training in the Spring of 2011.
The program seeks to equip Turkmen hospital infection control professionals with the knowledge to enable them to develop practical guidelines for infection control in health care facilities to support hospitals in reducing the risk of health care-associated or nosocomial infections. Participants will be able to learn about modern standards and practices developed and applied at hospitals and other health care facilities to prevent and control the transmission of nosocomial infections. They will have a better understanding of how hospital infection control programs are organized and implemented.
Qualified candidates must be:
a) Representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry;
b) representatives of the Sanitary and Epidemiologic Service;
c) clinical doctors from the Infectious Disease Center;
d) clinical doctors from the regional infectious disease hospitals;
e) TB doctors;
f) transfusion specialists from blood banks;
g) HIV/AIDS specialists.
Application forms can be obtained at the American Councils office in Ashgabat (48A Gerogly Street) or at the American Corners in Dashoguz, Turkmenabat, and Mary.
The deadline for application submission is January 3, 2011.
