Columbia Law School invites applications for the R. Randle Edwards Fellowship in Chinese Law for the academic year 2012-2013. The Edwards Fellowship supports outstanding Chinese legal scholars and teachers who wish to spend a period in residence at Columbia Law School and conduct research under the direction of Columbia's Center for Chinese Legal Studies.
It is expected that three Edwards Fellowships will be awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year. Fellows are typically required to spend one semester (September to December or January to May) at Columbia, although applications for shorter stays may be considered. Each Edwards Fellow receives a stipend and is reimbursed for the cost of roundtrip airfare to New York.
The Edwards Fellowship was established to honor Professor emeritus R. Randle Edwards, who was the founder and director of the Center for Chinese Legal Studies until his retirement in 2002.
The R. Randle Edwards Fellowships for Visiting Chinese Law Scholars have been established with support from the Ford Foundation and through contributions of friends and former students of Professor emeritus Edwards.
