Overview Note: Applicants for JISPA must apply through IMF's on-line application system. To be eligible for admission to an M.P.P. program, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Applicants who expect to earn the required degree(s) between the time of application and the end of September 2011 should submit with their application an official statement that certifies anticipated graduation. Applicants must have completed at least 16 years of education including at the university level, or its equivalent. Applicants who have spent fewer than 16 years completing their elementary, middle school, high school and university education must explain in detail their academic history. Please be informed that those applying based on non-standard qualifications should contact the MPP/IP Admission Office, Graduate School of Public Policy prior to applying. Travel expenses between the awardees' home countries and Tokyo will also be provided. For details, please follow the instructions on their website. Applicants must obtain the necessary forms from the Graduate School of Public Policy's website and prepare the documents according to the list below. Applications must be written in English. If documents are not written in English or in Japanese, an official English or Japanese translation must be attached. *Please note that none of the submitted documents and materials will be returned. *An email confirming receipt of all documents necessary to review one’s application will be sent to the e-mail address provided on the application form by GraSPP’s Admissions Office. Note: Note: Thursday, December 1, 2011 to Tuesday, January 31, 2012. (JST) For enrolment in October 2012, completed application documents must be submitted to the Graduate School of Public Policy via registered mail or an international delivery service (such as UPS or FEDEX) by the deadline. Prior to sending the hard copy of all the documents, applicants are required to submit an Application Form (Form #1 only) to: mppip@pp.u-tokyo.ac.jp by email detailing the date of sending the application, means of shipping and its tracking number. The Admissions Office will notify the applicant an application number after receiving the email. Applicants should refer to this application number for all communications thereafter. Application documents must be submitted in their original forms during the period from Thursday, December 1, 2011 to Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Applications for the MPP/IP Program that arrive after January 31, 2012 JST will not be considered for their candidature to JJ/WBGSP or ADB-JSP. In October 2011, the Graduate School of Public Policy (GraSPP), University of Tokyo, will welcome a second cohort to its new 2-year Master of Public Policy, International Program (MPP/IP), geared towards providing students the opportunity to earn a professional degree in public policy while completing all required coursework in English.
All courses offered in MPP/IP are also open to English-competent students in the Japanese MPP program. Additionally, student groups and school organized extra-curricular activities are combined, allowing for increased social and scholarly exchange. Furthermore, MPP/IP students have access to courses in other graduate schools, both English and, language competency permitting, Japanese based.
