Overview
Applications are invited for two 3-year PhD scholarships investigating family influences on children's psychological development.
Located within the Centre for Research on Children and Families, each respective project will focus on an examination of the interplay between biological, psychological and social factors in improving understanding of the origins and aetiology of psychopathology among children and adolescents. Utilising several internationally located longitudinal datasets, each project will apply quantitative research methods to examine a topic commensurate with the objective of informing evidence-based practice in the area of child and adolescent mental health.
The Centre for Research on Children and Families aims to conduct and disseminate research of the highest international quality that promotes understanding of the underpinnings of well being among children and families. The Centre serves as an interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners, policy makers and educators with basic and applied interests in advancing knowledge about children, families and the contexts within which they live. The Centre takes a research orientation to its work, with a practice and policy purpose to its output.
Value of this Scholarship
The Scholarships are funded through the University of Otago and provide an annual stipend of NZ$20,000 plus payment of tuition fees for up to 36 months (3 years).
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should have at least a Bachelors degree (with Honours) in Psychology or a related field, preferably with some prior research experience.
Scholarships are available to both International and Domestic students.
