USA: The KFC Colonel's Scholars Program 2010

Overview

The KFC Colonel's Scholars Program® is looking for high school seniors with entrepreneurial drive, strong perseverance, demonstrated financial need, and who want to pursue a college education at an accredited public institution in the state they reside.

The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is about you, your dreams and aspirations, and the perseverance to succeed. This program is offered to high school seniors planning to attend a public in-state college or university. Students who meet the criteria may apply online to become a KFC’s Colonel’s Scholar. Students selected for this scholarship are eligible to receive up to $20,000 to complete a bachelor’s degree program.

Criteria and How to Apply

Colonel Harland Sanders has become a symbol of entrepreneurial spirit. In keeping with the Charity's commitment to young people and family values, the KFC Colonel's Scholars program will honor more than 50 graduating seniors who share that spirit and need help affording college.

Criteria for Application

Graduating from high school this academic year (between 12/1/09 and 8/31/10)
Enrolling in a public (state-funded) college or university within your state of legal residence (start date no later than 9/30/10)
Earning a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75
Pursuing a bachelor's degree
A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Demonstrate financial need


The Application Process

A student begins the application process by selecting the Apply Now! button. An account must be created with name, address, and email information. The student will be assigned a user ID and password, which will be required to log in, as often as needed, to complete the application.

Once the account is created, the student can launch the online application. At the initial launch, the student must answer six questions in the Check Your Eligibility section.

Eligible students may then proceed to the application, which consists of the sections listed below and must be submitted by February 10, 2010, before 5:00 p.m., central time:

Leadership & Participation
Responsibilities/Activities
Recommendation
Certification & Release
Students have from December 1 to February 10, 2010, to complete all application sections. The Logout button saves the data, and students can log back in to relaunch the application and continue working as many times as necessary through February 10.

Very Important Notes

You will need to remember your user ID and password through the month of May.
Save your application frequently while logged in.
Log out if you leave your computer.

Be assured that your personal, private information will not be shared with anyone outside of the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program and selection committee.
Security concerns prevent the use of bookmarks to return to pages within the application. (It's safe to bookmark this page.)

Students who are selected as semifinalists will be notified by email. The email will include additional instructions and important deadlines. Be sure to enter your email address correctly and keep your email account up-to-date.
