Overview
The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG) plans to award approximately 200 fellowships for the academic year 2010-11, subject to the availability of funds. These awards are renewable for a total of three years; they include full tuition, fees and annual stipends of $30,500-$31,500.
(Note: Recipients of National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships do not incur any military or other service obligation. Applications are encouraged from women, persons with disabilities and minorities, including members of ethnic minority groups such as American Indian, Black, Hispanic, Native Alaskan [Eskimo or Aleut] or Pacific Islander [Polynesian or Micronesian].)
Criteria for Selection
The awards are open only to U.S. citizens or nationals who are at or near the beginning of graduate study and plan to pursue doctoral studies in one of the disciplines listed at the top of this page.
Selection is based on all available evidence of ability, including academic record, a minimum of three letters of recommendation, and GRE scores.
Application Procedure
Applications will be available online at http://ndseg.asee.org/ in September. Materials must be submitted electronically by 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time by the early January 2010 deadline. Notification of awards will be mailed in late March 2010
