www.daad.de/de/download/entwicklung/aufbaustudiengaenge/ast_broschuere_postgraduate_courses.pdf
With few exceptions, the language of instruction is English.
Who can apply?
Very well qualified graduates with a first university degree (16 years education) and at least two years of work experience.
The courses are open to all eligible candidates. Applications are welcomed from professionals with personal resources, from those who are funded by their government or company, or from those who are recipients of financial support from international sponsoring organisations. In addition, a limited number of full and partial DAAD-scholarships are available.
DAAD Scholarship
The DAAD will pay a monthly award of 750 Euros plus extra benefits such as travel allowance, health insurance and family allowance (if applicable).
Requirements
The programme is open to excellently qualified graduates who hold a Bachelor's or comparable academic degree (16 years education). Generally, no more than six years should have passed between the last degree and the time of this application.
Please note: For some courses with relevance to developing countries certain age limits are applicable. Applicants, who have been resident in Germany for longer than one year at the time of application, cannot be considered.
Besides previous academic achievements and (in most cases) proven proficiency in English, the most important selection criterion is a convincing presentation of the applicant's academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany and the expected impact for development policy.
Applicants are expected to look upon at least two years of work experience in their special field and should preferably hold a position in the public sector or in a private company.
Please note: Additional requirements may apply to single degree courses. The DAAD may fund attendance of a German language course at a language school in Germany before the scholarship-supported studies begin.
Application
Please find detailed information about all required application documents in the application form for "Research Grants and Study Scholarships" ("Antrag auf ein Forschungs-/Studienstipendium") which can be obtained on the Internet (www.daad.de/en/form). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
As a rule, applications (both for admission to the degree course and for the DAAD scholarship) have to be submitted directly to the respective German university according to the deadlines given in the brochure „Postgraduate Courses for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries 2010/2011“ (see above).
