The Centre for Stem Cell Research undertakes ground-breaking research into the biological properties and biomedical potential of stem cells. The Wellcome Trust/Medical Research Council four-year PhD programme is a flagship for high quality students to undertake specialist training and research in stem cell biology.
The first year combines taught courses with laboratory rotations to broaden students’ theoretical and technical knowledge in stem cell biology. Students then embark on a three-year PhD project.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a 1st or 2:1 degree. Applications are welcomed from candidates from a broad range of disciplines, including medical, biological, physical and computational sciences.
Support includes a generous living allowance for four years, UK/EU student PhD registration fees, research expenses, personal development training funds and a contribution towards travel expenses. Non-EU applicants will be required to obtain additional funding to cover the overseas fee component.
