The University of Alberta has established the following policies and procedures for Postdoctoral Fellows at the U of A.

As a postdoctoral fellow coming to the University to pursue research, it is essential that you read and understand the University of Alberta Intellectual Property Policies, covering patent policy, copyright, fair use of software, research publications policy, guidelines for ownership of research materials, guidelines for authorship, research affiliation agreements, and royalty revenue policy.
Grant Notley Memorial Postdoctoral Fellowship
-provided by donations from friends of Grant Notley, matched by the Province of Alberta
-valued at $46,000 per year for two years
-available for research in politics, history, economy or society of Western Canada or related fields
-one fellowship awarded each year
-includes a one-time $4,000 travel/research grant
-covers the cost of the University Postdoc Supplemental Health Insurance Plan
Note: PDFs are responsible for paying Alberta Health Care Premiums
Eligibility Requirements
-Open to citizens of any country
-Must have completed a doctoral degree (within 3 years post-PhD from the time of application submission to desired department) or will do so prior to commencing fellowship
-The doctoral degree obtained must be from a university other than the University of Alberta
-Must not hold a postdoc position or be employed at the University of Alberta at time of application submission to desired department
-Must not hold a faculty position at other universities or colleges at time of application submission to desired department
-Must not hold or have held a postdoctoral fellowship from any funding agency or a University named fellowship (eg CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, AHFMR)
Fellowships may be awarded in departments without doctoral programs, but only if facilities are adequate and doctoral calibre research is being carried out
Killam Fellowship holders should be likely to contribute to the advancement of learning or to win distinction in their profession, should not be one-sided and a sound character should complement their intellect
-Fellowships are only tenable at the University of Alberta
