Overview
The College proposes to elect a fixed-term (non-renewable) College Career Development Fellowship (CCDF) in French for five years from 1st October 2011. The CCDF will be required to teach 12 hours per week for the College, or for other colleges, either under an exchange arrangement or in return for tuition fees to be remitted to the College, to examine and to undertake such other duties as the Governing Body may direct. The successful candidate will be required to provide teaching for some or all of Papers III and IV in the Preliminary Examination; to provide teaching in the Final Honour School on a range of authors and topics in French literature in the period from 1715 to the present, depending on the successful applicant’s areas of expertise; and some language teaching, which may include translation from French into English for all years, the Essay in French for the Final Honour School, and parts of Papers I and II in the Preliminary Examination (see course handbooks at http://www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk/french). The person appointed will also be expected to play a full part in the admissions process.
Stipend
The basic stipend will be on a scale starting at £24,273 per annum (under review). In addition the CCDF will be able to apply for research allowances up to £1,000 and a computer allowance of
£300 per annum.
The Fellowship is open to graduates of any University of postdoctoral or equivalent standing, who are already engaged in independent research. Eligible candidates should normally have submitted their doctoral thesis and have no more than three years of post-doctoral research experience by the closing date. Candidates should submit 7 copies of their application to the Academic Administrator, The Queen's College, Oxford, OX1 4AW, no later than noon, 28th January 2011. Interviews for short-listed candidates will be held on 14th February 2011.
Applications should include the following information:
1. Full name, age, and nationality;
2. Summary of career, with details of education, degrees and teaching experience, if any;
3. Details of publications, if any, and a summary of the proposed programme of research;
4. The names of two referees, whom the candidate should ask to send references direct to the Academic Administrator by 28th January 2011
5. A mobile telephone number or a number where the candidate can be contacted between 4th and 9th February 2011.
