Overview
Applications for Scholarships are invited for up to four PhD Scholarships, covering fees (Home/EU Rate) and maintenance, in any of the 7 key research themes:
1. Globalisation, Competitiveness and Sustainability
2. Governance, Policy, Accountability and Risk Management
3. Health and Wellbeing
4. Inequalities, Inclusion, Identities and Social Change
5. Justice, Rights, Security and Conflict
6. Learning Across the Professions
7. People, Places, Engagement and Change
The PhDs may be held in any of the Colleges’ Schools:
• Business School
(Subjects: Accounting & Finance; Economics and Management)
• School of Education
• School of Interdisciplinary Studies
• School of Law
• School of Social & Political Sciences
(Subjects: Central & East European Studies; Centre for Drug Misuse Research;
Economic & Social History; Politics; Sociology, Anthropology & Applied Social Sciences and Urban Studies)

Interested applicants should make initial contact with a School Subject Area, stating they are applying for a College ASRF Scholarship as the School selects candidates for the scholarship competition.
There is no separate Application Form for these scholarships your Application for Admission to Study (and supporting papers) will be used here. Documents that must be submitted -
New Students (due to start session 2011/12):

a 3000 word research proposal
2 academic letters of reference
Transcripts (pdf versions will be accepted)
Important notes for new Students:
In the Finance Section of the Admission Application Form please indicate that you wish to be considered for the "ASRF Scholarship".
There is no need to resubmit any of the above paperwork for this Scholarship we will access via your online submission. If you have not attached any of the above named paperwork then please email them only to Leeann.Stevenson@glasgow.ac.uk
For students who are already researching (PhD year 1 only can apply):
- we will use the Admission Application Form currently held in the PG Admission System or College Office File
- we will use the 2 original references currently held in the PG Admission System or College Office File
- we need a revised Research Proposal, (not exceeding 3000 words)
- we will need a brief report from your supervisor(s) on ability and progress to date
