Overview
VU Graduate School of Economics and Business/Holland Scholarship Programme. VU Graduate School of Economics and Business is offering Taiwanese candidates the unique opportunity to win a scholarship to cover part of the tuition fee for taking part in one of our highly renowned Master's programmes.
Two scholarships will be awarded for this programme in the academic year 2011/2012. The Scholarship is administered in Taiwan by the Netherlands Trade & Investment Office (NTIO) and will be open to high potential candidates from Taiwan who are interested in pursuing a world class graduate education in the fields of Marketing, Business Administration, (Quantitatitive) Finance, Econometrics and Operations Research, Economics, Spatial and Environmental Economics and Accounting and Control. Two scholarships valued at €12,000 each are offered for outstanding candidates of only Taiwanese nationality. The winner is responsible for all other expenses incurred during his/her study at VU University Amsterdam (e.g. housing, course materials and living expenses). VU Graduate School of Economics will support the successful candidates for 1 year of studies.
Criteria of Eligibility
-Only applicants with at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Taiwanese university
Candidates must be citizens of Taiwan and be normally resident in Taiwan.
-The general criteria for selection are excellence, motivation and extracurricular activities
-Admission to one of the Master's programmes of VU Graduate School of Economics and Business.
-Do not obtain any funding/scholarship from other organizations/institutes
-Be fluent in English and have a more than satisfactory score in an English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL. This requirement is often underestimated. Do train the English language during the preparation year!
-Cumulative Grade Point Average (or GPA) of at least 80

To apply for the scholarship, all candidates must complete the scholarship application form, accompanied by above mentioned application documents, and apply for admission to one of the MSc programmes at VU Graduate School of Economics and Business:

Nuffic: Scholarship application form (available from Nuffic Taipei: http://www.neso-taipei.org.tw/) including above mentioned application documents. Deadline for application: 15 May 2011
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the GSEB/NTIO Joint Selection Panel who will look at the strengths and capabilities of the candidates and consider their suitability for the programme. All short-listed candidates will be called for an interview after which a decision will be taken. At the interviews, the questioning will focus on future career plans and ambitions. Interviews will be held in June. Final results will be announced by the end of June. No scholarship will be confirmed until a university place has been secured.
