Enhance your research with up to 6 months research at the largest library in the world. The 2011 AHRC/ESRC Library of Congress (LoC) scholarship scheme is now live. These prestigious scholarships offer AHRC and ESRC funded doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and research assistants the opportunity to access more than 145 million items housed in the world-class facilities at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. The vast resources at The Library cover far more than just American Studies and as such you are invited to apply whatever your research interests.

The scholarships provide the opportunity for AHRC and ESRC funded doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and research assistants based in UK Higher Education Institutions to travel to Washington DC to work between 3 and 6 months at The Library of Congress, with access to the internationally renowned research collections held there. In addition to any stipend granted in conjunction with your award the LoC scheme offers an additional £1000 a month towards living costs and £500 towards flight costs.
The closing date for scholarships to take place between 1 October 2011 and 30 September 2012 is strictly 17:00 on 1 April 2011.
