Overview
The Fulbright Visiting Student Program TESOL Teachers Program is intended to qualified high school and university teachers of English for a graduate study towards a Master's degree only. Grantees will be placed in a 1 to 2 year master's degree program in TESOL and are not eligible to apply for extensions or transfer of visa sponsorship to participate in Ph.D. or additional study/research programs.
This program is primarily aimed at strengthening the English teaching capacity and infrastructure in select countries.
Eligibility criteria
A. Nominees must be citizens of Madagascar and currently residing in Madagascar.
B. Persons holding both citizenship in a partner country and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency are ineligible for Fulbright grants.
C. Nominees must be high school or university teachers of English
D. Nominees must have completed their undergraduate education and hold a “Maîtrise” degree or the equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree by the start of the grant period.
E. Nominees must have a minimum of one year of experience teaching English
F. Nominees should be committed to returning home after completing the Fulbright program
G. Nominees should be committed to work at an institution in the home country upon completing the Fulbright program.
H. Preference will be given to those who have not had recent or extensive experience in the U.S.
Application Procedure
Applications must be completed and submitted online before Friday, April 30, 2010 at http://foreign.fulbrightonline.org/fulbrightpage.html
Incomplete application will not be considered. Candidates are advised to apply early and to ensure that all necessary documentation is received in a timely fashion. This includes all transcripts of university studies showing grades, certified copies of all university diplomas, three letters of reference, and 10-15 page writing sample. Letters of reference should be from academics who can attest to the quality of the candidate’s university study and academic potential. If degrees and transcripts are not in English, translations must be attached.
REQUIRED STANDARD EXAMINATIONS:
Only Fulbright finalists are to take the TOEFL, GRE tests.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a language test required of all foreign students whose native language is not English. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a general ability test, which indicates a candidate's aptitude for graduate level study.
