Overview
This scholarship program, is designed for qualified Jordanians seeking Masters or beginning Ph.D. studies in Conflict Resolution and its practical applications in a variety of academic disciplines, such as (but not limited to) Political Science, International Relations, the Social Sciences, Public Administration, Civic Education, Law, Sociology, Religious Studies, Government, Psychology, Environmental Protection and Conservation or Anthropology.
This competition is announced in January of each year for the following academic year(s).
Applicants for The King Hussein Memorial Fulbright Scholarship and Endowment Program will be requested to fill up the same Application Form as that of the Jordanian Fulbright Visiting Student (Pre-Doctoral) Program to the United States. The same Eligibility and General Application Guidelines apply, as follows:

The Application Guidelines and the Minimum Requirements for the 2011-2012 King Hussein Memorial Fulbright Student Scholarship Competition:
► The FULBRIGHT- AMIDEAST Application form may be accessed, downloaded and printed-out on the Binational Fulbright Commission’s website at www.fulbright-jordan.org or you may wish to visit the “Fulbright House”, located at 19, Mahdi Bin Barakah Street in Shmeisani, Sunday through Thursday, between 8 am until 3 pm, to obtain a hard copy.
► The FULBRIGHT- AMIDEAST Application form and Cover/Summary Page should be filled-out as completely and in as much accurate detail as possible.
► You should type the information requested in this Application form. If there is not enough room for some of your answers please continue on a blank piece of paper.
► At the time of applying for a Fulbright Scholarship, you must already hold or have been awarded your terminal degree (a Bachelors or a Masters, whichever is applicable), and your university must have already issued you your official transcripts.
► You must attach official, translated and certified undergraduate or graduate transcripts (in English or, if the transcripts are in Arabic or in any other language, they must be translated into English and certified as true translations of the original documents).
► All documents should be in the original or certified as true copies.
► Please include your official, translated and certified Secondary School transcript with a minimum of “B” average or a minimum Tawjihi score of 80% and above. Transcripts for IGSCE and “O” and “A” levels, if applicable, should also be submitted.
► The minimum criteria for your undergraduate degree should be a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 or a minimum of B+ average or a “Very Good (VG)”.
► The minimum requirement in your graduate studies’ transcripts should be an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 or better.
► A Statement of Purpose essay, a Biographical essay and Future Plans essay, in English, should be included with the application. In addition, on a separate sheet of paper (not to exceed 2 pages, please).
► Include three (3) letters of recommendation (in English) from persons familiar with your academic and/or professional (work) achievements.
► Although it is not required, IF you have significant work experience, please include your Resumé (or C.V.): This will certainly apply for MBA degree candidates.
► Four (4) Passport-size Photographs should be attached to your application.
► The following English Language Proficiency Exams will ONLY be accepted and MUST be included with your application at the time of submission:
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not have a valid, official TOEFL Score Report (not older than two years), - on the Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a minimum score of 232 or, a valid, official TOEFL Score Report - on the new Internet-Based Test (iBT) with a minimum score between 90-91, it is strongly recommended that you visit the AMIDEAST office in Sweifieh (Tel: 581-0930) immediately to register for the next TOEFL Exam. No application will be accepted without a valid official TOEFL score.
Information to Remember and to Reiterate:
1. Fulbright Students enter the United States on an Exchange Visitor (J-1) visa under a Department of State program and are subject to the two-year home-country residence requirement associated with the J-1 visa.
2. Sound physical and mental health: Those selected for a Fulbright grant are required to submit a Medical History and Examination Report before their grants can be finalized.
3. Applicants should be representative and responsible citizens who can contribute to a full and fair picture of the culture of their own countries and thereby contribute to understanding between the people of the United States and Jordan.
4. They should also demonstrate the cross-cultural sensitivity and flexibility needed to adjust successfully to life in the United States.
5. Preference may be given to those without recent experience in the United States.
6. Applicants will be considered without regard to race, religion, gender and/or physical impairment.
7. Fill in the information requested in the FUBRIGHT Application form as completely and in as much accurate detail as possible.
8. The entire application must be typed or computer-generated. Use Black 10-point or larger type on all parts of the application. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
9. Continue on a blank piece of paper if there is not enough room for some of your answers.
10. Specify clearly your study objectives in the U.S.
11. Include your official, translated and certified Secondary School transcript.
12. Include your official, translated and certified undergraduate or graduate transcripts.
13. Include a well thought-out biographical essay, statement of purpose and future plans, in English with the application.
14. Proofread the entire application before submitting it to the Fulbright Commission. The application should be free of grammatical and spelling errors.
15. Your Application Form, and all requested supporting documents mentioned above should be submitted with a 25 JD fee to the Fulbright office in Shmeisani (Tel. 568-4760) NO LATER THAN 29 April 2010.
16. Applications received after this date or incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
17. When using an electronic version of the application, do not change the format of the forms, the pagination, the fonts or the type size.
