Overview
The Centre for Intelligent Information Technologies (CETINIA) at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) offers a PhD scholarship for students pursuing a full-time PhD degree in Computer Science. More concretely the candidates will work in the use of Semantic Web techniques to discover and support the automatic adaptation of virtual organizations.
The student will be integrated in the project “Adaptive Virtual Organizations: Mechanisms, Architectures and Tools. (OVAMAH)” involving researchers in Computer Science at University of Salamanca, Technical University of Valencia, and University Rey Juan Carlos.
Context
CETINIA is a Centre for R&D&I at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Móstoles (Madrid), Spain. The Centre aims at producing, applying, and disseminating knowledge in the area of Intelligent Information Technologies, as well as promoting the image of URJC and furthering its academic prestige both at national and international level. Its main lines of activity refer to (1) Intelligent Knowledge and Information Systems, (2) Web Intelligence and Open Software Systems, and (3) Advanced Applications. URJC’s Consolider research team comprises researchers in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, accumulating a large body of knowledge and experience in topics such as Multiagent Systems (Coordination, Virtual Organisations), Semantic Web (Web Engineering, Semantic Web Services), and Knowledge Modelling (Non-standard logics, Reasoning, Ontologies).
Requirements
Candidates are required to have a high-quality degree in Computer Science (or have completed equivalent qualifications), have good communication skills in English and/or Spanish, and be able to demonstrate strong motivation to conduct research.
Salary
The annual salary is 18.200 € before taxes and includes Spanish Social Security. Tuition fees are waived. In addition, generous allowances are given to support presentation of work at international conferences and to attend seminars and tutorials. Contracts are conditional on satisfactory progress, which is reviewed every year.
Start date
Start date is preferably in 2010. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
